- Description:
- An April 28, 1960 *Florence Herald* campaign ad of Alabama Democratic Senator John Sparkman, noting that among other Anti-Southern legislation he has worked and voted against all "so-called civil rights bills" and that he was opposed to the U. S. Supreme Court school integration decision, and I am sponsor of an amendment to nullify the decision and to restore full control of schools to State and local authorities. I have always worked for the preservation of Southern customs and traditions."
