- St. Luke's Rosenwald School was built on Sapelo Island in McIntosh County with funds from the Rural School Building Program of the Julius Rosenwald Fund. The program funded school-building projects in Georgia from 1912 to 1932.
Photograph of St. Luke's Rosenwald School on Sapelo Island, Georgia. This is a single-story white structure with a row of windows along the long side of the building. A propane tank stands below the windows. This school was built with funds from the Rural School Building Program of the Julius Rosenwald Fund. Between 1912 and 1932, contributions from the Rosenwald Fund helped to build 4,977 new schools for African Americans in fifteen southern states. - Metadata URL:
