- Oral history in which David Schenck describes his father's role in ending desegregation demonstrations in 1963 and the effect on his family. Schenck reads from some of his father's correspondence, including hate mail, and discusses the mayor's relationship with North Carolina governor Terry Sanford. The younger Schenck's views on William Chafe's Civilities and Civil Rights are also discussed.
