- Description:
- In this March 24, 1982 letter, attorney Lewis Pitts implores U.S. Attorney General William French Smith to assign a special prosecutor to the Federal Grand Jury hearing related to the murder of five Communist Workers Party members at the Death to the Klan march in Greensboro, North Carolina, on November 3, 1979. Pitt argues that a special prosecutor is needed due to criminal acts of high ranking officials. This letter accompanied a Motion for Appointment of Special Prosecutor.
