- This is a photographic portrait of Helen Ashby. Ashby was assistant director for the Institute for Child and Family Development at Woman's College of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (now The University of North Carolina at Greensboro) from 1958 to 1964, and was a member of several local progressive and interracial groups, including the YWCA, which appointed her to its board. She was married to philopsophy professor Warren Ashby.
