- This June 25, 1981 article by Ed Hatcher of the Greensboro Daily News, reports that outgoing U.S. Attorney H.M. Michaux had recommended criminal investigations and federal civil rights charges against participants in the murder of five Communist Workers Party members at the Death to the Klan march in Greensboro on November 3, 1979. Michaux also criticized the department for not acting sooner on his recommendations and recounted a phone conversation with Joe Grady, a Klansman from Winston-Salem. Justice Department officials stated that any action was "months" away.
