- This Greensboro Daily News article by contributor Jaci Hughes, published January 31, 1980, recounts statements made by Andrew Young during a visit to Chapel Hill, North Carolina. At a press conference, Young stated that the nonviolent civil rights protest movement prevented violent uprisings in the South. Later at a lecture, Young argued that while social and political gains had been made for minorities, economic equality was yet to be reached. This article was clipped and saved in a scrapbook about the twentieth anniversary of the 1960 lunch counter sit-ins by Clarence "Curly" Harris, manager of the Greensboro Woolworth store at the time of the sit-ins.
