- Report issued by the director of the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission in July 1963. Activities of the commission listed in the report include cooperation with the Coordinating Committee for Fundamental American Freedoms, the organization fighting proposed Civil Rights legislation; work done with Broadcast Editorial Service, Editors Copy, and the U.S. Press Association to distribute editorial materials to media outlets; an update on several pamphlets, including "The Civil Rights Cases," "In Unity There Is Strength," "Due Process of Law or Government by Intimidation"; information about publicity including the Speakers Bureau and showing the film "Oxford, U.S.A."; recommendation to buy a page in a special edition of the Jackson Advocate on Negro progress; and contacting individuals to support the fighting the civil rights bills. Also in the file are a report on action taken by the Board of Trustees for Institutions of Higher Learning following remarks made by James Meredith; a list of expenditures in July 1963; and a budget for the fiscal year beginning in July 1963.
