- Records collected by the Mississippi Sovereignty Commission on attempts to defeat the 1964 Civil Rights act, beginning in the summer of 1963 when the legislation was first introduced. Much of the correspondence comes from James Satterfield, a lawyer in Yazoo City, Mississippi, as well as Senator James Eastland in addition to the members of the Sovereignty Commission. The file also contains business cards from a variety of individuals in the public and private sectors.
