- Letter dated June 21, 1968 from United States senator Albert Gore in response to a letter from a man in Johnson City, Tennessee about gun control legislation and the Poor People's March. Gore explains that in conjunction with a recnet anti-crime bill, he supported legislation to make local and state enforcement more effective; he mentions other bills and pledges to keep the man's view in mind while considering further legislation. Regarding the Poor People's March, Gore notes that the United States Constitution guarantees the right to petition government, as well as the need for governmental work to continue uninterrupted. He assures his correspondent of his close attention to the situation in conjunction with Secretary of the Interior, Stewart Udall.
