- Side 1: Interview with Brother John Sellers on 1972-12-28 at his New York City apartment. Abstract for Sellers: [00:00–21:53] Brother John Sellers, in a December 1972 interview conducted at his New York City apartment, speaks about a variety of topics related to Mahalia Jackson. Though he was not present at these instances, he briefly discusses Jackson working with Duke Ellington – 01:40; and he shares stories of her friendship with Harry Belafonte and his family – 03:00. He discusses disingenuous treatment of Jackson by her associates, including press agent Al Duckett, who Sellers implies took advantage of Jackson – 09:00. He shares an anecdote of Aretha Franklin speaking negatively about and to Jackson in 1970, while he also criticizes Franklin's decision to sing at Jackson's funeral – 12:32. Sellers continues discussing other arguments and incidents that occurred at Jackson's funeral services.
