Portion of interview with unknown interviewee. Abstract for Shapiro: [09:13–29:53] On LG091Goreau_Side1, in this May 16, 1972 interview, Gene Shapiro discusses the various details of tying up the effects of Jackson's personal estate. He and Goreau speak about the appraisal of the items in her Chicago apartment, and the state of Jackson's taxes at the end of her life. The two try to determine a time for Shapiro to visit New Orleans to discuss the matter of Jackson's final resting place, which Shapiro has the right to authorize as the executor of her estate – 17:01. The two discuss contract rights for the story of Jackson's life, both for film and for biographical and literary matters – 18:21. Shapiro reveals that Irving Townsend and Lou Mindling have negotiated earlier contracts that would complicate film rights to Jackson's life – 19:01, upsetting Goreau as they "could have made a lot of money." Goreau and Shapiro discuss Jackson's finances and investment advice they each gave to her. The interview ends with the two discussing Wilman Jackson's challenge to the validity of the will and their warning to other members of Jackson's family to "prepare for a battle" – 26:46.
