- Tom Dent interviews Reverend H.O. Harvey in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He talks about his upbringing in Orangeburg County and his education at Dunton Memorial School, South Carolina State University, and Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina. He taught in the public school system before becoming a Baptist pastor, and lists the various churches he has worked at. Harvey talks about his involvement in the civil rights movement, which began in 1955. His wife was fired from teaching for his involvement. In 1960 he ran for the House of Representatives of Orangeburg County. Harvey gives his impressions of Dr. Benner C. Turner and Dr. M. Maceo Nance, Jr., former presidents of South Carolina State University. He discusses demonstrations in Orangeburg in the early 1960s. They discuss the Orangeburg Massacre shootings and NAACP lawyers.
