- Tom Dent interviews Ike Madison in Durham, North Carolina. Madison discusses how northern Mississippi has changed since his youth there. Dent talks about the lack of White support for Black businesses and discusses the opinions held by other interview subjects. They discuss land ownership. Madison talks about class differences preventing upward mobility in the United States. They discuss the increasing gap between the rich and the poor in this country, even within the Black community. Dent discusses the project and where his taped interviews will go. He talks about how important it is from someone Black to complete the project and make a statement on current events. Madison gives his impressions of North Carolina and the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People. He discusses the conflict with the People's Alliance, primarily made up of White "progressives" in North Carolina. Madison brings up his background. He went to seminary, practiced law, and worked for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference [SCLC].
