- Ms. Gidden worked as a Senator Eugene McCarthy "hostess"in the delegates' lounge at the Conrad Hilton Hotel. She did not support the protestors' methods. However, on Wednesday night during the riots, she was pushed by a police officer and crossed Michigan Avenue from the Hilton to join the protestors. She slept in Grant Park that night, and then attended the last day of the convention the next day.
