- Hysni Selenica was born in 1975 in Chicago and grew up in the Gage Park community. His family fled communist Albania in the 1950s to come to the United States. Selenica went to Gage Park High School and then graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a photojournalism degree. After college, he became a Chicago Police officer and since then became the first Muslim chaplin for the department.
