- Andrea Ortez (b. 1989) was raised in a Catholic household in Los Angeles. While studying at Loyola University Chicago, Ortez attended a community organizing event led by several Muslim organizations. Through volunteering and community service, she learned about Islam and converted at the end of college. Ortez worked for the Parternship for Reslience in the southwest suburbs.
