- Description:
- Roberto Morales is one of the children of Genoveva Morales, a longtime education activist in Uvalde and the lead plaintiff in Morales v. Shannon, a MALDEF-led class action suit that pushed the Uvalde ISD to ensure the desegregation of the local schools. Morales talked about his mother's character and her relationships with other activists in the area, including her trip to Crystal City to meet Cesar Chavez. Morales also talked about his own experience with discrimination in the Uvalde schools, and the legacy of her mother -- a middle school was renamed after her in the last couple of years.
