- This audio recording features Bethune-Cookman College's 77th Annual Summer Commencement. At 00: 23:50, President Bronson introduces the commencement speaker, Dr. James A. Colston, the president of Bethune-Cookman College from 1942-1946 who turned the Bethune-Cookman college from a two year to a four year college. At 00:41:27, Dr. Colston is welcomed and delivers his address, in which he speaks about the responsibility and future of black colleges and it's contributions to the world. Dr. Colston raises the question: What Are Your Responsibilties? and asks graduates to accept the following responsibilties: keep learning beyond graduation, know your contemporaries, work together for the good of each other, "Enter to Learn and Depart to Serve", and to prosper in society.
