- Fla. WPA; 12/14/36, Key West, Fla., Text on reverse: "WPA workers recently were assigned to a project in Key West which provides for the development of parks. The botanical garden is one of the show places of Key West, containing as it does myriad tropical flora many of which will grow nowhere else in Continental United States, since Key West alone lies below the frost line." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
