WPA., 11/10/36, Key WEst, Fla., Text on reverse: "Location of the sump is to be near the second treatment plant in the sewer collection and dispoal system being constructed by the WPA at Key West. The work is far from pleasant, since laborers are being forced to work in marl mud, but they are carrying on the task as efficiently and as rapidly as could be hoped for." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
