Mitchell, a Rhodes scholar, formerly served as Deputy Director of FDR's Farm Security Administration. He brought kudzu to Georgia. Photo by Stetson Kennedy, who served as Mitchell's editorial assistant, and prepared poll tax and other suffrage materials eventually published bu Southern Regional Council et al." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
