- Text on reverse: "Watch Your Credit International Chicago 7-17-34: Three die in Texas Dock Strike, Houston, Texas-- Three independent Negro longshoremen were shot to death and four others (white and negro) wounded in battles between striking dock workers union and members of an independent unions not on strike. Photo shows one of the injured men who was shot and beaten about the head. Sent Bureaus, Hearst Papers and Fast Mail." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
