- Text on reverse: "In addition to toys which can be rolled, WPA women workers have repaired and created a number of dolls which will be distributed to needy relief children at Christmas time. Attractive bags made of coconut fibre also are shown and these will be sent into the homes of some needy women. Through these activities, the WPA will bring cheer to many persons on relief in the Island City." Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
