- Classroom scene with G.W. McLaurin seated in a desk near the back behind all-white audience. McLaurin sued to gain admittance to University of Oklahoma to pursue his doctorate in education. After he won in court, the University segregated him from his white classmates. This photograph shows his seat in relation to his classmates. the Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
