- Test on reverse: "Negro Enrolls at Oklahoma University, G.W. McLaurin, 54, a retired Negro professor, became on Oct. 13 the first member of his race ever to enroll in the all-white University of Oklahoma at Norman, Okla. McLaurin confers with J.E. Fellows, dean of admissions at the University. His admission to the University's graduate school to complete work on a doctor's degree followed a protracted legal fight. 10-14-48" Stetson Kennedy (1916-2011), writer and civil rights activist, collected these photographs during the course of his career fighting for equality throughout the Southern United States.
