In 1961, John B. Smith began working for the Atlanta Inquirer, an Atlanta based African American newspaper founded in 1960, as a part-time advertising sales representative. He later served as the Business Managing Editor and Advertising Director for the paper and eventually became its chief executive officer and publisher. - Local Identifier:
