Dr. Reverend Cordy Tindell Vivian, known as C. T. Vivian (1924- ), was born in Booneville, Missouri. He is a minister, author, and was a close friend and lieutenant of Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement. His family moved to Illinois when he was six and they lived in a poor integrated neighborhood. Vivian attended seminary at American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2008, Vivian founded and incorporated the C. T. Vivian Leadership Institute, Inc. (CTVLI) in Atlanta, Georgia. He also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. - Metadata URL:
