Ralph David Abernathy (March 11, 1926 - April 17, 1990) was a civil rights leader and close associate of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Abernathy served as Secretary-Treasurer and then Vice President of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) under King's tenure as President of the organization. After King's assassination in 1968, Abernathy succeeded him as SCLC President and served in that capacity until 1977. In 1968, Abernathy helped organize the Poor People's Campaign (PPC) March on Washington, D.C. Hosea Lorenzo Williams (1926-2000) was a United States civil rights leader and ordained reverend. He was a leader of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and organized and led marches in the 1960s through the 1980s. He founded Hosea Feed the Hungry and Homeless, a non-profit foundation in Atlanta that provides food free health services for the indigent. Dr. Reverend Cordy Tindell Vivian, known as C. T. Vivian (1924- ), was born in Booneville, Missouri. He is a minister, author, and was a close friend and lieutenant of Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement. His family moved to Illinois when he was six and they lived in a poor integrated neighborhood. Vivian attended seminary at American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee. In 2008, Vivian founded and incorporated the C. T. Vivian Leadership Institute, Inc. (CTVLI) in Atlanta, Georgia. He also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2013. - Metadata URL:
