Sam Williams worked for John Portman & Associates for over two decades. Prior to his departure from the company in 1994, he was responsible for the firm's real estate development in the United States, the Middle East and Asia. He subsequently became president of Central Atlanta Progress. In 1997, Williams was named president of the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce. Earlier in his career, Williams served on the staff of Atlanta Mayor Ivan Allen, Jr. - Local Identifier:
