- Harold Colee, head of the Florida State Chamber of Commerce, tells a gathering of businessmen that St. Augustine can use the racial strife of 1964 to attract tourists who might wish to see where history took place. For example, Sheriff L.O. Davis erected a sign at the St. Johns County Jail saying "Mrs. Peabody Slept Here."
