- Biographical entry on Mamie Katherine Phipps Clark, Hot Springs, Arkansas native who was the first African-American Woman to receive a doctorate in psychology from Columbia University. Clark's research with regard to the "separate but equal" doctrine was instrumental in the 1954 case, Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka.
