- The Clifford Baldowski cartoon depicts Ramsey Clark bowing down to a group of Islamic leaders. On April 20, 1980, Beckwith commanded a special squad used in a failed attempt to rescue U.S. hostages in Iran. In June, former Attorney General Ramsey Clark visited a conference in Iran in defiance of President Carter's ban on travel to Iran.
