- Joseph E. Lowery speaks during an Easter Sunday worship service at Martin Luther King Jr. International Chapel at Morehouse College. As part of the worship service event, the Lowerys were awarded the Gandhi-King-Ikeda Community Builders Prize. Joseph E. Lowery delivered the Easter Sunday address in the chapel and in addition to the award, the Lowerys were presented with a portrait of themselves.
