Description:: A Confederate flag flies outside of Shades Valley High School during a demonstration against integrated schools. Caption on photo reads: (BM5) BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 13 -- REPLACES AMERICAN FLAG TEMPORARILY -- This Confederate flag was run up the flagstaff of the Shades Valley High School during today's demonstrations against integrated schools. School authorities quickly had it replaced with the American flag. Three schools integrated this week under federal orders. Students from both segregated and integrated schools have demonstrated at several schools in the city in an attempt to get others to join their boycott of classes.
