- Description:
- This video features Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) President Joseph E. Lowery speaking at an unknown event. Lowery speaks about the detriments of war, racism, materialism, and militarism to address his concerns about the Persian Gulf War. Lowery raises concerns about third world country citizens and the need for peace and justice due to the decrease in resources and increase in poverty as a result of the Persian Gulf War. Lowery encourages listeners to fight for peace and justice for people in the Middle East and for a new world order in which the world fights for humanity instead of economic and political power. The event concludes with a question and answer segment. This footage is part of a larger video object that contains other material. Please see the finding aid for the Lowery Collection for additional details about the entire contents of the videotape.
