- This video features the 9th Annual SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Drum Major for Justice Awards on April 4, 1988 in Atlanta, Georgia in honor of the 20th anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.'s assassination. This video opens with a performance by singer and actress Countess Vaughn followed by the presentations of the SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Oratorical Contest winners and Salute to Youth Awards. U.S. Representative Mike Espy and Mayor Emma R. Gresham receive the Drum Major for Justice Award in Government and Doug Williams receives the Drum Major for Justice Award in Sports. At 00:30:18, Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) President Joseph E. Lowery gives remarks about honoring and continuing Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream and upcoming SCLC events. This video concludes with Rita Samuels presenting the Drum Major for Justice Award for Women in Politics.
