- This video features a press conference held at the SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. headquarters building in Atlanta, Georgia. In the press conference, Evelyn G. Lowery addresses radio host Don Imus' degradation of African American women and the Rutgers University women's basketball team by referring to the team as "nappy headed hos". Lowery and women representatives of organizations such as the Coalition for the Peoples' Agenda, Spelman College, the Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the National Council of Negro Women, Women's Action for New Directions (WAND), and the NAACP express their discontent and concerns and advocate for the removal of Don Imus from public programs and platforms. Evelyn G. Lowery urges radio hosts, rappers, television stations, and audiences to be positive and responsible role models and to stop supporting media that disrespects and downgrades Black women and communities. The press conference concludes with a question and answer segment. This footage is part of a larger video object that contains other material.
