- This video features proceedings from a criminal justice symposium held at the Interdenominational Theological Center sponsored by the Lowery Institute for Justice and Human Rights. The symposium focused on the topics of alternative sentences, mandatory sentences, sentencing disparities, and prisoner rehabilitation. The recording opens with an unidentified woman opening the floor to questions from the audience. Symposium speakers answer the questions which address various facets of the criminal justice system, including sentencing, judicial matters, and prisoner rehabilitation. At 00:32:01, the recording switches to a different event at the symposium at which Georgia Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor speaks about the importance of the work of the Lowery Institute. Other speakers include Dr. Dorcas Davis Bowles, Tyrone Brooks, Thelma Wyatt Cummings, and the guest keynote speaker, Larry D. Thompson. In his remarks, Thompson speaks about crime statistics, the impact of crime on communities, and the need for law enforcement.
