- Description:
- This video features Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) President Joseph E. Lowery speaking at the International Chemical Workers Union (ICWU) Convention. The video opens with remarks by an ICWU representative introducing Lowery and relaying a brief history of the relationship SCLC has had with the ICWU over the years. In his speech, Lowery uses the story of Ahab from the Bible (in which he is told by a prophet that Israel would win in a battle against Syria as long as Ahab led his people in the fight) to illustrate the point that someone must step up to lead, take charge, and create the change we want to see.
