- This video features the proceedings of the Ralph D. Abernathy Civil Rights Leaders Lecture Series event at Alabama State University. The video opens with an invocation delivered by Pastor Michael F. Thurman, a musical performance, and three speakers who deliver remarks before Joseph E. Lowery comes to the podium to speak. Lowery's remarks center around the theme of the lecture series: "Black leadership, the Black church, and the modern civil rights movement".
