- This video features proceedings from the 33rd Annual Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Convention in Richmond, Virginia. Specifically, this video documents the Labor Solidarity Breakfast at the convention. Speakers at the breakfast include a representative from the AFL-CIO, Don Gathers from the A. Philip Randolph Institute, Willie Baker (Vice President for the International Union in the United Food and Commercial Workers), and Ernie Lofton (Vice President of the UAW), who introduces the keynote speaker, Barbara Van Blake. Van Blake speaks about the poverty, racism, and educational deficits impacting African American children. Joe Davis, the director of the civil rights division of the United Auto Workers - Detroit, then speaks. Cleveland Robinson, who worked with A. Philip Randolph, then comes to the podium to provide comments on the A. Philip Randolph Institute and the importance of the labor movement. The video concludes with labor representatives coming to the podium to speak and present checks to SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery.
