Description:: This video features the proceedings of the Hungry Club Forum at the Butler Street YMCA in Atlanta, Georgia. This forum features Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) President and Reverend Joseph E. Lowery as the keynote speaker. Reverend Renita Thomas provides a brief introduction of Lowery and then Lowery comes to the podium to speak. Lowery speaks on the topic of "beating gun powder into soul power", addressing the gun violence that permeates American society. Alongside gun violence, Lowery speaks about "economic violence" and its impact on U.S. citizens. The event concludes with a question and answer session with Lowery. The recording shows candid footage of people conversing after the event concludes and then the camera person proceeds to another room at the YMCA where SCLC members are seen accepting guns as part of the Gun Buy-Back Program.
