- This video features proceedings from the 38th Annual Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana. The video opens with musical performances by The Impressions and then SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery comes to the podium to present awards and speaks about SCLC's advocacy for affirmative action programs and equality for all. Award recipients include attorney Alvin O. Chambliss (for the Distinguished Barrister Award) and Rose Sanders (now known as Faya Ora Rose Toure, for the Rosa Parks Award). The proceedings continue with Lowery introducing members of the SCLC Board and then the convention attendees all sing "We Shall Overcome".
