- This video features proceedings from the 29th Annual Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Convention in Jacksonville, Florida. The video consists of footage of the SCLC/W.O.M.E.N. Annual Luncheon, which includes a prayer led by Reverend Renita Thomas and a panel presentation discussing the theme of "the feminization of poverty". The panelists who speak are Dr. Joyce Ladner, a professor of social work at Howard University, and Maxine Green, of the National Tenant Organization. Ladner speaks about teen pregnancy, single parenting, infant mortality and drug abuse. Green discusses welfare reforms, housing, daycare, and benefit payments. The proceedings also include the presentation of awards to Septima Clark and others. Evelyn G. Lowery, Rosa Parks, SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery, and Coretta Scott King deliver remarks.
