Description:: This audio recording features a Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) rally event in Sumter County, South Carolina that was part of a schedule of events as part of the SCLC's Pilgrimage to Washington. The recording of the event includes the performance of songs and remarks by SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery (begins speaking at 00:06:26). Lowery speaks about the dream of Martin Luther King, Jr. and invokes Langston Hughes' poem "Hold Fast To Dreams", saying the Black community must hold fast to political equity.
