- This video features a "March Against Violence" demonstration on March 16, 1996 in East Point and College Park, Georgia. Police escorts, ambulances, Joseph and Evelyn Lowery, and members of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference lead demonstrators from Vesta Avenue in East Point, Georgia to College Park, Georgia. Demonstrators include members of First Missionary Baptist Church, SCLC, the Nation of Islam, Hot97.5, and others who march, sing, and chant in support of stopping the killing and ending the violence. At 00:03:00, SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery is interviewed. He speaks about leading with love and peace to stop the killing and end the violence. This video also includes remarks by Reverend Fred Taylor regarding registering to vote, speeches by College Park elected officials, performances, and a remembrance for violence victims. At 00:30:20, Evelyn G. Lowery introduces the national "Stop the Killing" quilt. At 01:05:47, Joseph E. Lowery acknowledges demonstrators, shares that Black is beautiful and sacred, and encourages demonstrators to stop the violence and veto the concealed carry bill.
