- This video features proceedings of the 13th Annual SCLC/WOMEN Oratorical Contest. SCLC/WOMEN's Annual Oratorical Contest is an event in which youth give speeches about a given topic. The purpose of SCLC/WOMEN's Annual Oratorical Contest is to promote leadership and advocacy regarding social, economical, and political issues affecting youth. In this video, contestants are introduced and given the opportunity to present their speech on the topic, "Reclaiming Values and Renewed Vision". At 01:12:50, Evelyn G. Lowery gives remarks about the annual oratorical contest, acknowledges contestants, coaches, organizers, and supporters, and presents awards to participants. At 01:21:40, Joseph E. Lowery gives remarks about reclaiming our values and holds hands with contest winners while leading the audience in singing "We Shall Overcome".
