- This video features an event marking the signing of a renewal agreement between the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) and Shoney's that reaffirms affirmative action initiatives agreed on between the two organizations in 1989. The recording opens with SCLC President Joseph E. Lowery discussing the importance of "good business" and the commitment to political and economic empowerment. Lowery emphasizes the need for staff, volunteers, community support, and financial resources within organizations. At 00:12:16, Lowery and Shoney's CEO C. Stephen Lynn sign the covenant.
