- Description:
- This audio recording features a speech at a Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) Board luncheon regarding the irony of supply and demand, effects of inflation, and the inequality of resources throughout the United States by SCLC member Walter Fauntroy on April 14, 1980 in Tallahassee, Florida. Fauntroy's "Nonsense" speech addresses the lies and irresponsible decision-making of Congress and explains the consequences of the government producing "insufficient quantities of poorly designed products at too high a cost", therefore resulting in higher poverty, unemployment rates, and an economic crisis. The recording ends with a speech by Joseph E. Lowery (at 00:35:29) about SCLC's policy on systemic change, unemployment, and the oil crisis.
